Cold and flu survival kit
Filed Under Health Fitness Beauty | Leave a Comment

Behold my cold and flu survival kit: lots of warm tea with lots of honey and lemon to balance the way too huge amount of sweet honey.
But honey contains natural antibiotics, and that’s exactly what I need to battle this cold or flu. Monday I was soaking wet going out shopping on my bike, so maybe that’s where I got this cold or flu from. No need to see a doctor yet when you don’t need a leave of absence from your job. But be warned: if you take good care of yourself and your cold or flu is still around after 1 week, you better go and see a doctor!
Cold and flu survival kit tips and tricks
- consume lots of organic honey, as it contains lots of antibiotics
- sleep as much as you can
- make sure your room gets ventilation, to "sweep out" the germs. Of course don’t start ventilating when you are inside the room unless it’s a warm day.
- eat lots of organic chicken soup with rice. Grandma’s recipe for any minor ailment
- if you don’t have a headache, do not take paracetamol so your body can react the proper way with fever. Fever makes your body temperature so high that the germs can’t survive anymore. Of course, when your temperature rises too much, you should go and see a doctor on the spot.
Cold and flu medication survival kit
If you want to feel as good as possible when having a flu, you can self-medicate yourself with:
- painkillers:
- paracetamol is much more friendly to your stomach than Aspirin.
- if you have a very bad headache or you have muscle ache, I always take ibuprofen
- pseudo-ephedrine relieves congestion in the sinus. The side effects however are a very restless sleep.
- Coughing… You cough to get things out of your body that shouldn’t be in there. To help those things get our of your body faster, you need an expectorant.
But…
…when at night your coughing keeps you awake, you better suppress it with… drumroll… a suppressant.
So if you only take a suppressant, you need to know you are keeping "the bad stuff" longer in your body than without using the medicine.

Indoor rose garden
Filed Under FLOWERS, Health Fitness Beauty | Leave a Comment

By now it must be clear to you all that I am stuck inside my house today.
Not only because it is raining outside, but my throat is aching and I feel my head when I don’t take pain medication (which is a big word for saying I am taking paracetamol every 4 hours…)
Hubby was so nice to bring the garden inside by picking me these roses
If only I was a better photographer without having the flu. And with this gray weather outside, it’s kid of depressing dark inside, not ideal for taking indoor pictures.
Anyway, I am off to drink lots of tea with honey and lemon made by hubby
Him being stuck in the house as well, he is going through my cookies cookbooks… Not a good idea when my throat is aching so I advised him to look for chicken stock recipes in stead

My sis is so hip!
Filed Under Health Fitness Beauty | Leave a Comment
Ok, now we can kind of laugh with it already, but my sister came back from the hospital cured from a broken hip.
I agree, we are getting a bit older, but she just went outside of her house and missed one step, stumbled, fell and bang: her hip was broken.
Come to think of it, my brother in law for one reason or another sat next to his chair, fell on the ground of course and broke his wrist.
And now we are complaining, my right thumb has got some arthritis…
Resulting: I am no more Mrs green thumb but changed into Mrs arthritis thumb. My lucky sis: she is the hip one!
