I mentioned before that the cute little blue flowers of muscari or grape hyacinth were the first to bloom in our garden this spring as they also where the first to sprout last spring…
Did you know that you can still buy muscari at your local florist? For those that want to bring early spring back to life in your garden

It’s as simple as that: if days are too hot for comfort, you can actually buy a "piece of early spring" in a pot!
This is actually a muscari I just bought this week and I just love the display of the muscari bulbs in the soil of the pot.

Keukenhof gardens
Just a reminder that the Keukenhof gardens are half way its 2 months of showing visitors the most magnificent spring gardens.
This last Easter, the Easter flowers in Keukenhof in the Netherlands reached their peak of visitors in the history of Keukenhof!

Purple Tulips
The best spot on earth to walk through purple tulips in between the garden flowers of Keukenhof. The spring bulbs are now in full bloom at the Keukenhof Gardens in the Netherlands.
I do love to stroll around in floral shops with big green houses, but nothing compares to Keukenhofs’ 7 million spring flowers, mostly tulips, yet also earlier in spring daffodils and hyacinths. 80 acres of spring flowers and tulip fields outside the Dutch town of Lisse, nearby Amsterdam, will still be open until may 20th.
Dutch Tulips near Chicago
For those who can’t make it to Europe this year, the tulip festival in Holland, Mich., is as close as it gets to the Dutch tulip gardens. Holland is a quaint town with Dutch roots, about a 2.5-hour drive from Chicago. Its annual tulip festival takes place May 5-12.

How to landscape bulbs? Very easy: since you know in advance how the flowers of the bulbs will look like, bulbs are easy to landscape. You can get idea’s from Keukenhof Gardens, yet the simplest idea to landscape bulbs is to integrate them in the flow and lines already available in your garden.
Like in the picture above taken from the "Open Gardens" from Belgium
(see Hyacinth Garden): the yellow daffodils follow the flow of the garden path. Simple. Add to that the perfume of the pink hyacinths planted together in a big oval cluster and you have a winner.
