Black tulip magnolia
Filed Under New Zealand, Tulip tree picture | Leave a Comment

How amazing New Zealand flowers are: look at the above beautiful dark tulip flowers.
The expert eye will notice that these ‘tulips flowers’ actually are magnolia flowers. But from far, this New Zealand cultivars of the black tulip magnolia looks like a tree of dark tulips. (black tulip Vulcan x)
The resemblance to real tulip flowers is much more accurate than what you see in the tree flowers of a common tulip tree:

Thanks to Eric (see our previous post about New Zealand flower deliveries) for all the black and white pictures of a tulip tree and other Dunedin flowers!
Tulip tree growth rate
The Black tulip magnolia is actually a slow growing dwarf tulip tree. This compact rounded magnolia tree will only reach a height of 1.5 to 3 m (9 to 18 feet).
What’s great about magnolia trees is that they have a low and easy maintenance, are frost hardy and give you an abundance of tree flowers in early spring. Do remember that the flowers can be damaged by frost, so plant your magnolia tree under shelter in a partial sunny place.
If you live on the northern site of the globe, it’s now the ideal time to order online and plant your black tulip magnolia tree: they are common in UK and New Zealand.

Dunedin flowers

Pink tulips from New Zealand. These Dunedin flowers were sent to us by Eric (see New Zealand flower deliveries).
Unlike Christchurch that’s known to be the flower garden of New Zealand, Dunedin is more known for being a university city with Scottish roots.

Nevertheless, nature is all abundant in New Zealand, and Dunedin flowers are abundant in the Dunedin botanical garden established in 1863.
Although I am a tulip lover, you should visit the immense rock garden which is part of the Dunedin botanical garden.

This Dunedin rock garden hosts tiny flowers delivered from all corners of the world, flowers I have never seen before actually.
For the New Zealand flowers sent by Eric so far, I already started to save money to visit New Zealand next October and explore the Christchurch gardens and Dunedin flowers up close and personal.

I just got myself these lovely tulips thanks to New Zealand flower deliveries. Great because I just planted my tulip bulbs last week (see: Planting tulip bulbs) and was wondering how to get more tulips to put online.
Actually these tulips where delivered in my email all the way from New Zealand Christchurch by Eric: a kiwi living on the north island of New Zealand who loves to travel to the south island.
The tulips above are Christchurch flowers from the Christchurch botanical garden. Christchurch seems to be the garden city of New Zealand and it really looks great looking at all the pictures with flowers send from New Zealand.
The picture of tulips above was taken in the beginning of October, when spring season starts for the flowers in New Zealand.
Please send flowers!
- If you have pictures of tulips and live in spring on the southern hemisphere,
- if you have old pictures of tulips or
- if you want to add more New Zealand flower deliveries in my mailbox:
Please send your spring flowers and I will publish them here!
