Muscari
Filed Under FLOWERS, HOME & GARDEN, Hyacinth, Spring flowers | Leave a Comment
I mentioned before that the cute little blue flowers of muscari or grape hyacinth were the first to bloom in our garden this spring as they also where the first to sprout last spring…
Did you know that you can still buy muscari at your local florist? For those that want to bring early spring back to life in your garden

Muscari in a pot from the florist
It’s as simple as that: if days are too hot for comfort, you can actually buy a "piece of early spring" in a pot!
This is actually a muscari I just bought this week and I just love the display of the muscari bulbs in the soil of the pot.

Flower Delivery

My all-time favorite gift for family, friends and co workers have always been flowers as I know every one appreciates the beauty of such a gift.
Well, not just any flower but aromatic flowers like roses and lilies would be what I normally request for.
For corporate gifts or gifts for colleagues, I find that giving gift baskets adorned with lovely fresh flowers makes the present a whole lot more special and memorable.
I usually order flowers, basket gifts and plants online from a well known gift retailer and franchiser called 1800flowers.com.
They have more than 100 stores nationwide and have gifts for all occasions which you can purchase online.
Such a basket gift is highly popular as you can use them for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries or just to thank someone.
They have a wide selection of fresh flowers arrangements, basket gifts, stuffed animals, gourmet foods, confections etc. and deliveries can be done on the same day too.
Being a person who appreciates the environment and who believes strongly in preserving the Earth for our future generations, I use 188flowers.com all the time as they share with me the same beliefs for one.
They have initiated a computer equipment recycling program and this will be launched on June 4, 2008 at Long Island that will recycle obsolete and broken PCs, monitors, DVD Players, VCRs, keyboards and other electronic components.
A commendable effort I must say and much needed as most of us tend to forget how discarded computer and electronics equipment can pollute the Earth.

Crocus flower

It feels like summer here, so I am ready to dig into my spring bulb pictures which I didn’t publish yet and start uploading them on pictures of tulips… So here comes for some other spring flowers!

Crocus flowers
Most crocus flowers are very early spring flower bulbs, sometimes you can even find a crocus in the snow
Normally a crocus will bloom long before Easter.
The grass like crocus leaves show a typical white line all along the center of the leaf. These days you can still get crocus flowers at your local florist, although I do prefer them in my garden before other plants start growing: let nature run its course
The most common crocus is the Crocus sativus producing saffron! Unlike the "normal" crocus, saffron blooms in autumn. Now don’t start eating your spring crocuses at home nor in your garden, as they are poisonous!
