Paper Birch - White Birch

Paper Birch or White Birch (betula papyrifera)
I was walking in my garden and saw some mushrooms on my birch tree, not the usual mushrooms at the side of the trunk, but tiny gray mushrooms on top of the old, death birch stem:

Birch tree mushrooms: gray as autumn…
Nina Birch

Nina birch: gray as autumn…
I was trying to find the real name of these birch mushrooms, but I came into a bunch of other birch stuff included birch people like…
Thora Birch

Thora Birch in kind of black and white

Thora Birch nude color or skin color dress
The men in the Birch family…

Simon Birch in younger days

John Birch Society

Dwayne d Birch : Shattered souls…
It’s quite striking how like birch trees, lots of the Birch people’s pictures dominate in black and white: I color I love in winter contrasting the blue skies, unlike other trees in winter having that dull gray greenish look.
River birch - Silver birch

River Birch of betula nigra:
"black birch"…

Silver Birch :
Another birch in black and white…
So what about my birch mushrooms?
… did you notice I didn’t actually find the name of the mushrooms on my birch tree? But let us end on a lighter note: literary with the song "land of the river birch"
Land of the river birch
Lyrics of this Canadian song and you can download the tune below…
Land of the Silver Birch Lyrics
Land of the silver birch, home of the beaver
Where still the mighty moose wanders at will
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more.
Refrain
Boom de de boom boom
Boom de de boom boom
Boom de de boom boom
Bo-o-o-o-m
Down in the forest, deep in the lowlands
My heart cries out for thee, hills of the north
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more.
High on a rocky ledge I’ll build my wigwam
Close by the water’s edge, silent and still
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more.
Land of the silver birch, home of the beaver
Where still the mighty moose wanders at will
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more.

More Mushrooms

Nature is constantly cleaning up. It’s just that when everything grows in summer or flowers in spring, we just don’t pay attention to it.

Oak tree: bark with mushroom
Take this mushroom: it’s been standing there for several years looking at the size of it, yet only now I take a picture of it. (And I should have removed the grass first I can see now…)
Now when you live in a 4 season climate: nature is kind of slow in cleaning up. A dead tree takes years here to be removed by insects and mushrooms, where in the rainforest of the tropics it only takes a few months!

Morning frost
Filed Under HOME & GARDEN | Leave a Comment
Yesterday evening the clouds disappeared which made it a clear sky and a cold night.
This morning the water of our free range chickens was frozen and with a little bit of morning sunshine, I took a picture of the bit of ice that I found on the concrete, more precisely on the moss on the concrete.

Close up frozen moss
Like I said before: when it gets colder in winter, you need to look at the smaller things in nature to see that there is still a lot of life that normally doesn’t meet the eye…
