Last minute harvesting

If you have been lucky with the weather, we must say you cannot wait forever to harvest the following: red beetroot, pumpkin, celeriac, cabbages and turnips. Anyway, we are not going to take chances and wait until December to clear our land.
Don’t be fooled by the roots of turnips and celeriac: they do are frost sensitive, although if you leave them on the field and have a mild winter, your chances are big that some make it through to the next spring. They will soon start to bloom though, so you don’t really gain much by keeping them on the land, except again if you don’t have enough space to store all your vegetables.

Avocado seedlings

Since I read on the Liver Cancer website that avocados have cancer prevention qualities, I have been eating avocados this summer a lot.
The most fun is making a guacamole which in our case works fine for replacing oil on our fresh garden salads.
But another thing to mention about avocado is the big seed! So of course I couldn’t resist to put one in a pot and wait and see what happened.
I kind of forgot about my avocado plant, but it’s still standing strong in a pot inside my house and of course I keep it in so it will survive winter.
Anybody having any success in harvesting avocados from avocado grown in a pot? How long it took from seed to harvest?
