Meanwhile it’s October and that’s about time to start digging for bulbs that can’t stand winter temperatures.

Bulbs, corms and flowers that should be harvested before the ground freezes are dahlias, gladiolas and begonia. Main thing is you store them in a dark cool area (my basement is ideal).

Dahlia and Begonia keep longer when stored in a box with slightly moist peat moss. Gladiolas can just be wrapped in newspaper.
